Hemp oil is a natural derivative of hemp, a unique strain of the Cannabis sativa plant. The oil is extracted from the plant’s aerial parts (this means sourcing from the entirety of the plant) through a cold press process. This extract can then be processed further to isolate certain components or adjust their potency.
Hemp oil does not have the same high concentration of psychoactive THC that marijuana has, but it does contain a variety of other cannabinoids, like CBD, CBN, CBG and more. A broad-spectrum formulation of hemp oil will contain a range of beneficial naturally occurring plant compounds (cannabinoids, flavonoids and terpenes) but will exclude THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). Full-spectrum extracts, on the other hand, will have the full range of chemical components, including the psychoactive cannabinoid THC.

Broad Spectrum Hemp Oil vs. Full Spectrum Hemp Oil
A full-spectrum extract is a product that contains at least some amount of all of the compounds that occur naturally in the hemp plant, including trace amounts of THC. A broad-spectrum extract, on the other hand, is a product that contains most (but not all) of these compounds. Specifically, these formulas do not contain any THC, even in trace amounts.
In states where CBD products are required to be THC-free, broad-spectrum products are the only ones that can be sold. They might also be preferable if you are subject to workplace drug testing or simply don’t want to ingest THC for personal reasons.
There are also other products called “isolates” that contain only CBD. These can be helpful, but they aren’t able to achieve the same effects as non-isolates. Is Hemp Oil Legal? Will It Make Me High?
